Custom UX solution for railway demo
Together with the team at Great Apes, I designed the UX and visuals for a custom site that strategically showcased Nokia’s railway demo — and broader portfolio — in a more engaging, immersive, and unconventional way.

The concept
Following the brief given by Nokia, our initial approach combined a physical 3D-printed model with a digital interactive layer, offering visitors both a tangible and exploratory way to engage with the content. The solution is digital-first, with the option to add the physical model when needed. Otherwise, a digital twin — a 3D-modeled map — is displayed alongside the interactive screen.
In terms of visual direction, we aimed to bring a modern, contemporary feel to the operator map aesthetic familiar in railways, complimenting the refreshed Nokia brand.
The design
We began by carefully mapping the user journey — in this case, the sales personnel who would use the tool. Working closely with Nokia representatives, we gathered insights into key pain points to ensure the solution was tailored to their specific needs. I mapped the entire journey to support the development process and guide our team through implementation.
The solution introduced a new visual system aligned with the Nokia brand, using color coding and iconography to clearly guide the user experience. These visuals were paired with a 3D-modeled map in a minimal style, allowing highlighted areas to stand out. Besides the UX, I was responsible for designing the railway world from 2D to the first 3D draft.

By aligning the design with both business priorities and user experience goals, we created a tool that enhanced sales performance while delivering an engaging, easy-to-use experience. First showcased at Mobile World Congress 2024, the demo was designed to be a convenient, portable solution that is easy to transport and maintain.
